Independent public-interest data observatory

Read the evidence.Understand the limits.

We connect five international datasets without hiding their different years, gaps or limits. The dashboard is a starting point for inquiry; our evidence profiles and original analysis explain what each signal can—and cannot—show.

A diverse group facing a fractured globe as warning signals give way to a hopeful dawn.

Understand the signals.

Explore freedom of expression, child labour and carbon emissions. Each measure tells a different part of the story.

Read each value with its source and reference year. These indicators are presented separately, without an overall score.

What the needles represent

Statistics are signals about real human lives.

Each needle translates one measurable pressure into a shared visual language. These indicators do not judge people or cultures; they help identify pressures on freedom, safety and care. The worldwide child-labour percentage is shown separately with its source.

Method / transparency

A readable signal, not a verdict.

Each indicator is presented separately. There is no overall score or ranking. The gauges show specific pressures, not comprehensive measures of freedom, personal safety or psychological wellbeing.

When a gauge is withheld. A known reference year must be no more than five calendar years old; a range uses its oldest year. Country-group observations must cover at least 80% of the defined countries. National observations and explicitly labelled official aggregates can also qualify. Unknown coverage or years do not qualify. These are editorial safeguards, not scientific guarantees. Excluded values remain in the raw-data table.

Suicide and homicide gauges use min(rate ÷ 30 × 100, 100). Expression restrictions use (1 − V-Dem index) × 100. A normalized gauge value is not a percentage of people affected. Child labour worldwide remains the ILO–UNICEF 2024 estimate for ages 5–17; other child-employment observations are identified separately in the raw table. Carbon remains in tonnes per person.

Stable, Fragile, Concerning, Critical and Emergency are editorial bands at 10, 25, 40 and 60 on the gauge scale. They are not official ratings or a diagnosis. Read the complete methodology and coverage rules before interpreting a comparison.

Privacy & advertising policy

Transparency before monetization.

Humain Alert is designed to collect as little personal information as practical. The following policy describes the current site, optional audience analytics and advertising features that activate only after approval and the required consent controls are in place.

Local dashboard data

The selected region, a timestamp and a 24-hour copy of public indicator data are stored in your browser. They are used to make the dashboard faster and are not used to identify you.

Forms and community proposals

Netlify processes contact, report-request and community-submission details so Humain Alert can respond and moderate contributions. Community ideas are never published automatically. No payment service is connected to the website.

Private action choices

Actions and challenge progress selected in “What can one person do?” are stored only in your browser. They are not sent to Humain Alert and can be reset from the section.

Google Analytics

With your consent, Google Analytics measures visits, pages viewed, traffic sources and generic participation clicks. Event details exclude action IDs and form contents. Analytics storage is denied by default, and you can change your choice at any time through “Privacy choices”.

Community poll

The optional poll is linked from the community page and opens on StrawPoll after a click. StrawPoll then processes connection, browser-session and vote data under its own privacy terms. Humain Alert receives only aggregate public results.
