What this profile covers

The Europe set contains 45 country and territory codes used by the dashboard. It is a continental analytical grouping, not the European Union or any other political institution.

How regional values are built

For each indicator, the dashboard takes the arithmetic mean of available national observations when at least 35% of the member set is covered. Countries are not population-weighted. A smaller and a larger country therefore contribute equally when both have usable data.

Dimension Indicator Primary source family
Psychological wellbeing Suicide mortality rate WHO via World Bank
Physical safety Intentional homicide rate UNODC via World Bank
Freedom of information Freedom-of-expression index V-Dem via Our World in Data
Protection of children Children in employment ILO via World Bank

Carbon context: The dashboard reports consumption-based CO₂ per person separately. It has 0% weight in the social score.

Regional limitation

Different countries can contribute observations from different years, and the set available for one indicator may differ from another. The regional signal is therefore a broad orientation, not a synchronized description of every European society.

Europe is heterogeneous. A regional mean must never be treated as the condition of every country, community or person.
